In the Grant implementation period RES founders and Board members will engage in strategic planning and envisioning of the new operational structure that best fits new programme focus and business model.

The following list of activities best describes major directions of RES Foundation work in the upcoming period:

  • Continued partnership with major stakeholders in the region including UNDP, UNEP, UN WOMEN, UNECE, EU bodies (including EU Parliament) major bilateral agencies, Forum for international cooperation on air pollution (FICAP)
  • Continued partnership with peers from the region and cooperation with regional structures such as Energy Community Treaty and RCC.
  • Desk research on:
    a. legal, institutional and policy framework in the WB relevant for energy use of woody biomass, including research on the most recent renewable energy policy at the EU level with focus on sustainability criteria of biomass use for power and heat production,
    b. data availability and data quality relevant for woody biomass.
  • Preparation and publishing of the woody biomass energy use policy platform for decision makers in the Western Balkans based on existing research.
  • Preparation and organization of online biomass policy conference. The conference format may be switched to hybrid should demand from the stakeholders arises.
  • Expert support to local level air quality management and planning process in line with the recently adopted Air quality programmed of the Republic of Serbia.
  • Expert support to the Government of Serbia (Prime Minister’s office, Ministry of public investments) in air quality management and planning process in line with the recently adopted Air quality programme of the Republic of Serbia.
  • Capacity building, public policy knowledge creation, codification and sharing in the areas of just energy transition and air, to the interested parties including international organizations, civil society organizations and university students.
  • Desk research on:
    a. legal, institutional and policy framework in the WB relevant for geothermal energy use, including research on the most recent renewable energy policy at the EU level.
    b. data availability and data quality relevant for geothermal energy.
  • Preparation and publishing of the policy platform for geothermal energy use decision makers in the Western Balkans based on existing research.
  • Preparation and organization of dialogue on geothermal energy use.
  • Engaging new generation of interns.
