Last week, RERI, the British Council and the Czech Center Belgrade organized a screening of the documentary film Power Station, held as part of the program of the Echoes of Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival.
The film follows the story of the residents of a London street who decided to take the initiative in the energy transition and jointly launch a project of solar panels on the roofs of their homes – without waiting for solutions “from above”.
After the screening, an inspiring panel discussion was held with the director, as well as local experts on the possibilities of developing civil energy in Serbia. The discussion was moderated by RERI’s legal advisor, Darjana Macanović, and participants were:
• Aleksandar Macura
• Ana Džokić (Elektropionir)
• Slobodan Jerotić, consultant
• Bojan Gajić (Platform For Energy Transition)
From different perspectives, the speakers shed light on the potential of energy communities, challenges in their development, but also opportunities for citizens to participate more actively in energy production and management. The audience joined the discussion, whose questions and comments further expanded the conversation about the future of civic energy in Serbia.
